That’s a Wrap

by Karie Bruder & Jessica Johnson

Now that we have all recovered from our long hours and all the excitement, we are able to look back at the 2022 Gala: Suspect Hollywood. We are once again amazed at what Zion’s youth are capable of doing! If you missed this year’s gala, you missed an award-winning evening! From the atmosphere to the food, the work these young adults did, and the entertainment… the night was definitely one for the books! Next year’s gala is already being planned. It will be a 50s-themed event! Ladies get your poodle skirts and saddle shoes ready, and the guys, well maybe skip the hair grease? Haha! It will be a fun night and sure to be one to remember!

This year’s events numbers are in and we are excited to share that we have over $3000 (after expenses) to donate towards youth activities and events here at Zion! THANK YOU to everyone who donated, participated, helped, and supported Zion’s youth and the 2022 Youth Gala!  This money will be used towards things like mission trips, youth activities, and supporting our confirmation aged and senior youth programs! This will make a difference in so many ways!

Well, “That’s a wrap.”  As we, Jess and Karie, step down from the Youth Gala, we both wanted to say, “THANK YOU!” Thank you to everyone who has helped us and been behind us on this wonderful journey. We are both excited to see what the next chapter brings to Zion’s Youth Gala! We have left it in great hands with Emily Comstock and Leah Kohls!

Blessing Closet Donations and Distributions

How many times have you heard or said the following:
“I want to donate my family clothes but not to a business or thrift store that turns around and makes money off my clothing.” “I want my clothing donation to go to people who need it.”
Donating to the Blessing Closet can make both statements come true. We accept new or slightly used, clean, and washed kids and adult clothing along with any shoes. Anything that clients cannot use will be recycled with no items sent to landfills. Donations are accepted on Wednesdays in a ‘marked donation cart’ at the front door waiting for you to just drop off between 8:30am and 4:30pm. If it is an extra-large donation or you can’t make the time frame, please make an appointment by calling 763-317-6052. Distributions are held quarterly at Zion in Trinity Hall for all children and their families. Thousands of items of clothing are displayed for infants, toddlers, children, and adults. Everyone is welcome! There are no income or residency requirements to qualify for the FREE clothing. The quarterly distributions last year served 485 families including 1,239 kids and 761 adults with 37,790 items of clothing. In Total, that is $87,540 of value benefitted the community. WHAT A BLESSING!! Please consider volunteering. You not only enable others to achieve their dreams for success and self-sufficiency, but you help build a stronger community.
