SERVE Weekend

SERVE WeekendJoin In The Journey

SERVE Weekend is returning with service opportunities for everyone. In addition to the Blessings Closet, and a mobile food pantry, there will be a community breakfast sponsored by the Blessing Closet and the Buffalo Food Shelf. We’ll be assembling Personal Care Kits through Lutheran World Relief, there will be Bingo and handchimes/singing at local care centers, making cat mats for Crossroads Animal Shelter, tie blankets for those in need, and a chance to supply some of our community seniors with flowers all summer from a local flower farm and help them arrange them, and some new local and online opportunities as well! There will be in-person activities and take-home options, with service opportunities for everyone of every age. Let’s flood our families and community with small acts of kindness all week leading up to SERVE Weekend.

Talk to your family, talk to your friends, and make plans to “Join in the Journey” and SERVE with us on April 26th-28th.

Ducks in a Row
Getting Your Ducks in a Row … Or Not

If you’re worried about trying to get your ducks in a row because, first, you aren’t sure if that is possible, and second, you can’t even find your ducks, there is hope! You are not alone. Gaye brings a blend of Bible messages, life stories, and humor as she invites you to consider ways to stop striving, fretting, and fixing. You will be encouraged to give up control, focus on how to love the people around you, and be fully present in the moment you’re in. Her message will encourage your heart, relax your shoulders, and refresh your faith.

You direct me on the path that leads to a beautiful life. As I walk with You, the pleasures are never-ending, and I know true joy and contentment. ~ Psalm 16:11

With her love for God’s Word and the wit she’s known for, Gaye Lindfors invites you to connect the dots between God’s faithfulness and your daily living. She’s a city girl with a small-town heart who isn’t afraid to poke fun at her own mishaps. Gaye served as the Midwest Regional Director for Christian Women in Media, is past-president of the National Speakers Association–MN Chapter, and led a human resources team that supported 11,000 airline employees. Her books include God, Girlfriends, & Chocolate, and Getting My Ducks in a Row and Other Stories of Faith.

Global Missions Sunday

You are invited to join us as we celebrate Zion’s Global Mission Sunday on May 5. This is a special day to reflect on our call to serve and support our siblings in Christ throughout the world. Zion’s mission field starts right here in the greater Buffalo area and extends out around the world. Through your contributions of time, talent, goods, and money, we provide clothing, food, housing and building supplies, medical care, scholarships, education support, financial support and volunteer hours to our local and global communities. Our Global Mission partners include Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis, All Kids Can Learn International (AKCLI) in Zambia, Africa, Mission Jamaica, and the Ukrainian Refugee Project.

On Global Mission Sunday, we will have available for purchase the book, "Evidence Now Seen," by Benedict and Kathleen Schwartz, CEOs of All Kids Can Learn International.  The cost is $20.  The book tells the background story and the growth and expansion of the Village of Hope in Zambia, Africa.

Storytime with Jesus - Trinity Hall

Building
Trinity Hall

Storytime with Jesus is a new opportunity at Zion for families with young children.  This is for all caregivers and children at Zion and in the wider community.  In other words: you do not need to be a member to attend---all are welcome!

The focus is on children learning through stories, songs, and play that Jesus loves them.

When?
First Tuesday of each month at 9:15 am to 10:30 am, in Trinity Hall. If you can’t be here by 9:15, come anyway!

9:15-9:30    Arrival.  Kids play and socialize.
9:30-9:45    Learn through song and movement.
9:45-10:00   Storytime.
10:00-10:20  Fun activity, snack, socialize.
10:20-10:30  Clean up and closing prayer.

Families are welcome to join this new opportunity for a themed story time each month.  Caregivers are encouraged to socialize while the children learn and play together.   No registration required, just come and enjoy!

~To tell the old, old story  Of Jesus and his love.~

Marysville Church

Summer is the right time to enjoy the fresh air of the historic Marysville Church as you hear pastors preach about faith-filled life lessons and sing the old favorite hymns. Worship begins at 7pm each Monday, starting June 5. This beautiful historic country church is located among farmland on County Road 9 between Buffalo and Waverly.

Just remember … this is a little country church with no modern amenities. Worship will be held if the temperature is above 60° and below 90° and the heat index is below 95° at 6pm that day. Worship will be canceled if there is a severe weather warning such as tornado or severe thunderstorm for the immediate area.  Cancellations will be posted on Zion’s Facebook page and on KRWC radio by 6pm.

New Members

You are invited to attend New Member Connect. This is for both those who are brand new to Zion and those who have been around for many years and just not gotten around to becoming an official member.

Membership is one way of connecting to this faith community.  Membership affirms that we are connected together for the mission of this congregation and for the mutual development of our faith in Christ Jesus. “New Member Connect” is an opportunity to spend time in conversation with Zion pastors, staff, and others and to find out more about our mission and vision before committing to membership.

The format of this gathering has changed from the past: gather in the youth room (on the East side of the building - towards the lake) between worship service (9:30-10:30am), where we will have a comfortable spot waiting for you! Children are welcome and the nursery is open and staffed during this time as well. Coffee, juice, and light breakfast choices will be provided.

SCUBA

Grab your dive buddies for a whale of a good time! At SCUBA, kids plunge into an undersea world brimming with colorful coral, flashy fish and abundant life. Immersed in oceans of fun, kids discover God is a real friend who loves them forever! We are gearing up for an ocean of underwater fun! Our underwater Scuba adventure, open to preschoolers through 5th graders, will be held June 10-14, from 9am- noon each day.

We need YOU to make this experience amazing for kids!  YOU can help us by volunteering to be a Crew Leader, a Station Leader, to help in the kitchen, or as a snack server. We also need a Nurse for our first aid station. There are many more helping positions to fill, so look at the sign-up form and sign up to help today!
