Eldor Jordan

January 2016

Eldor Jordan is one of Zion’s newest employees, taking over as evening and weekend custodian when his friend, Dave Lindberg, left the position recently to return to the Enfield rest area where they had worked together.

I came over and toured the church and felt it was a good fit for me, and it is. I enjoy working with Lynn and Joel, and the staff at Zion.

Eldor grew up in the Browns Valley and Beardsley area, where he was a member of Siloah Swedish Lutheran Church in Traverse County. He is now a member of Trinity Lutheran in Monticello.

Eldor’s favorite Bible Verse is Psalm 23.

I can’t recite it, but I like reading it.

He also likes the hymn, The Old Rugged Cross, as a remembrance of his father, who was killed in a tractor accident when Eldor was two years old.

Eldor is married to Nancy, and they have seven grown children, 19 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, all in Minnesota. Eldor and Nancy live in Monticello and keep a travel trailer on the Crow Wing chain of lakes near Nevis, where they like to camp and fish. They also like to travel to visit relatives and see the country.

Eldor is retired from 15 years with Federal Cartridge in Anoka, where he was the group leader in the shotshell department. He has also worked in construction, and managed convenience stores in Monticello and the metro area. More recently, he has worked at the rest area and as an aide for Wright County Community Action Head Start in Monticello.

Eldor started in November and works Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, Friday afternoons, and occasional weekend hours (including one Sunday morning each month).

I clean the restrooms, vacuum the carpet areas, mop the tile, and set up Trinity Hall for Sunday services. I also do other projects assigned by Lynn or Joel, and, of course, shovel snow as needed.

Please say ‘Hi’ when you see Eldor around the hallways at Zion.
