Student Spotlight: Alexis Rademacher

My parents are Nate and Stacie Rademacher and I have two younger sisters, Makayla and Aubrey Rademacher. Growing up, I have always been involved in my church. Some of the activities include Sunday school, confirmation, and youth group. In my personal life I can usually be found reading a book. My other passions include baking and hanging with friends. Every summer since I was born I can be found at my cabin. I have always enjoyed tubing, and in recent

Student Spotlight: Emily Lewis

I was born in August, and my parents were just thrilled to have a Friday the 13th baby. I went to Park Spanish Immersion school and St. Louis Park Middle School until I moved to Maple Lake in seventh grade. I immediately joined confirmation and from then on I’ve been super involved in all Zion’s youth programs. Last summer I started working at Camp Wapo where I’ve been attending since I was six and there I found my second home

Dementia Caregiving

To tell about myself and my faith journey is not easy, as there are many emotions that surface when I do. I was born in Charles City, Iowa, and when I was seven years old, my parents, sister and I moved to Maple Grove, MN. One of my most life-changing events occurred when I was sixteen. My family and I were in a car accident. The accident took the lives of both of my parents. After that, I was very

Hello! I am the new part-time office administrator and shared ministry coordinator. I get to greet people, answer the phone, recruit and train volunteers, and try to learn whatever I can from Sherilyn. I am excited to have the opportunity to connect people and their gifts with ministries and service opportunities! Found a Way through Music

John grew up in Storm Lake, Iowa, where his family attended Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Not going to church was never an option.  My parents were very committed to their faith.  When I was nine my dad died.  My mom carried on their encouragement of my church involvement.  Her dedication to missions – especially Native Americans in the west – always had her sewing  clothes to be sent away.  Her example of living will always remain with me. His fondest memories

Stop and Listen to God

Katie grew up in a Lutheran church in central Wisconsin, also called Zion Lutheran, and attended a Lutheran school from age 3 through 8th grade. My grandparents, Grandma Helen and Grandpa Clarence, both impacted my faith growing up. We lived next door to my grandparents and I was very close to them. I have so many fond memories of time with them. One of my favorite memories was getting to eat dinner with them because I knew that we would

Music Can Speak To Us

Mike grew up in north central Iowa and attended a small Baptist church. The Old Rugged Cross is a special hymn for me. Growing up, this was a hymn that my great aunt sang at many funerals and church services. Each time I hear it, it takes me back. It wasn’t until I turned 20 that I was baptized, and I remember the happy look on my Grandfather Hoff’s face that day. Mike has lived in Rockford, with his wife

No More Excuses

Growing up in Wayzata, MN, my family was always active at St. Phillip the Deacon. My dad sang in the choir and my mom helped out on Altar Guild. The Davidson family of seven rarely missed a Sunday and filled the same pew in front on the right side of the sanctuary, ten feet away from the pulpit where the pastor was going to preach the sermon of the day. I helped as an usher, reader, and played on the

Rediscovering Faith Life

Jameson grew up attending Ostmark Lutheran Church, which is between Watkins and Litchfield. I think most of my faith comes from the New Testament and the books of the Apostles. It is a reminder that it is important to be part of something bigger than yourself and provides a basic reminder to treat people decently. My favorite hymn is probably Amazing Grace. Something about the melody and the words is inspiring and it also reminds me of my mother. My
