New Children & Family Ministry Staff

Children & Family Ministry has two new members joining the team! With a great deal of joy and excitement, we introduce Zion’s two newest staff members. The Children and Family Ministry team has been operating with only a few staff members for far too long. Kristin Lotthammer, our Coordinator of Sunday School, along with Lora Nichols, former Ministry Assistant with Kristin, have both done a marvelous job of making sure that our Children & Family Ministry has been strong and

Care Team Update

Deacon Jill Davis has made the decision to resign her part-time position as Director of Congregational Care. We give thanks to God for her ministry with us. We are grateful that this is a change in her role and not goodbye!  Deacon Davis is employed as a Hospice Chaplain and says that role takes time and energy which makes it difficult to focus on Congregational Care in the way she’d like to.  You will still see Deacon Jill Davis leading

Youth Directors Named

After months of work including culling through applications, interviewing candidates, and seeking God’s guidance, the Youth Director Search Team has finished their work and joyfully announce that Zion has filled the opening in our youth ministries team! Holly Husom and Tammy Zumbusch have agreed to serve as Directors of Youth Ministry, with the primary task of providing a ministry with youth that will strengthen our youth’s relationships with Jesus, their peers, and their connection to the faith community of Zion.

Shared Ministry

One year ago I started thinking about how Zion volunteers would re-enter all of Zion’s ministries after the COVID year. I realized that my job at Zion could be easily split between a shared ministry coordinator and a worship coordinator. The church council approved the plan in October 2020 and I’m thrilled that Kim Haggen is working with us as Zion’s shared ministry coordinator. She brings a wealth of gifts to this job and has experience working with volunteers and

Pastor Dave’s Move

In March of 2019, I came to Zion as part-time Interim Pastor for Visitation and Pastoral Care. At that time, it was thought that the interim would likely be brief until a settled full-time Pastor for Congregational Life was called. None of us expected two and a half years to go by. Part of the “interim” label is the understanding that either the congregation could call a new settled pastor, or the interim could find a settled call elsewhere. On

A Time of Opportunity

It’s a unique time at Zion. As we celebrate the nearly 12 years of ministry that Pastor Ted has provided, it’s also known that Bristol Reading and I are interims, and both of us are actively interviewing for settled pastoral calls. Zion has openings for a full-time youth director and, eventually, staff for Children, Youth, and Family, and someone to partner with Laurie in the front office. The Call Committee and the Personnel Committee continue to work to find the

A Note from Pastor Ted

“What an awesome ministry Zion has!” I have heard that statement numerous times over the last nearly 12 years. It has been a joy to be a part of this awesome ministry. While I have enjoyed our ministry together, I am writing to inform you that I have accepted a call as an Interim Pastor to serve Prairie Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN. I will be leaving Zion July, 4th after Sunday morning worship. I believe Zion needs a

A Note from Pastor Suzi

Dearest Zion Family, It is through an unexpected moving of the Holy Spirit and mixed emotions that I sit down to write this letter. This letter is to inform the Zion community that I have accepted a call to be the program director of Camp Wapo and Ox Lake. This acceptance has come after a long period of discernment, prayer, and a few tears. I am excited how the Spirit is moving in my life and I am thankful that
