God deserves more than our attention;
He deserves our affections and focus.
He doesn’t just want us to listen to Him.
He desires us to know Him.
He wants us to pursue Him.

Support Global Mission Work During Lent

Lent is our solemn observance commemorating the forty days Jesus spent fasting in the desert and enduring temptation by Satan. We observe this season for forty days (sans Sundays), beginning with Ash Wednesday which lands on February 14th this year, through Holy Saturday, leading up to Easter Sunday. It is a time of repentance, self-examination, reflection and preparation for the coming of Easter. It can also be a meaningful time to grow spiritually in our relationship with God the Father.

During Lent, some may wish to give up something in symbolism of Jesus’ sacrifices for us, or to take on something new, such as regular Bible reading or reaching out to find new ways of service to others. It is also a time to set aside a regular time of prayer. As a symbol of that time, your Global Mission Committee is providing Lenten self-denial envelopes to you to consider giving a monetary donation which is used to help fund various mission partners that Zion supports. These partners include: All Kids Can Learn International (AKCLI) in Zambia, Africa; Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Minneapolis; and Mission Jamaica.

As we look forward to the season of Lent, we encourage you to use this time as a new way to grow your relationship with God, and to consider financially supporting Zion’s mission projects as a way to be God’s hands and feet in our world.

Watch for the Lenten self-denial letter and envelope in February.
