Building & Grounds

Building & Grounds Manager

I started my position in 2014 as the Building as Grounds Manager. I am responsible for ensuring that all the buildings and grounds owned by Zion are properly maintained, protected and cared for by providing continuous property maintenance and custodial care. My family have been Zion members since 1984. My wife Laurie and I have been married for 41 years and have raised three children who were baptized and confirmed here at Zion.

My duties at Zion include …

  • Maintenance and security of all buildings and grounds owned by Zion.
  • Overseeing maintenance and custodial staff
  • Room and event set-up
  • Arranging annual maintenance inspections of HVAC, Fire & security systems within the church
  • Working with vendors and service people.
  • Snow removal and lawn care.
During my time off I find many things to do. Both Laurie and I love anything to do with the outdoors: camping in our A-liner camper, fishing the many lakes from our pontoon, kayaking the backwaters of our beautiful rivers, and biking and hiking the many trails we have around us. The people of Zion are great to work with and to work for. Every day is a new adventure for me in meeting new people and hearing new stories. One of my favorite songs is the evening prayer that is sung during Lent, “Psalm 141: Let My Prayer Rise Up” because it has a peaceful melody of hope and happiness.
