What I actually do at Zion … I handle of all the finances of the church – this includes, but is not limited to, all the work involved with the weekly offerings, paying the church’s bills, maintaining the various church checking accounts, handling HR responsibilities and helping with the annual budgeting process.
How I came to be involved with Zion … I have been working at Zion since January 2008. I enjoy what I am doing. I try to serve with one of the Wednesday Night Supper teams so I can get to know some of the wonderful people here at Zion and I am always looking for other opportunities to meet people since I do not interact much with members during the work day. I also help the Foundation with their bookkeeping.
I was born … In north Minneapolis and graduated from Patrick Henry High school many years ago. I have 2 sisters and one brother. I attended Hope Lutheran Church growing up – going to Sunday School, Choir and confirmation in 7th and 8th grade.
My family … Consists of my husband Steve, my three grown children – Melissa (Ryan), Jessica (Phil) and Luke (Aimee) and their spouses and my 2 grandsons, Jacob and John. In addition, I have three step-sons, Matt, Chris and Jeff. Our bichon/poodle – Abbie — completes the family. She likes it that I only work part-time.
When I’m not at Zion, you can find me … At home in Corcoran, or our cabin on Maple Lake, or helping my daughter occasionally with her day care in Monticello so she can get to school programs and appointments. I enjoy yard work, reading, entertaining and jogging.
Something you might not know about me is … That I lived in Buffalo from 1981 until 1997. I was the Facility Supervisor at a residential facility on Douglas Drive in the early 1980’s working with adults with developmental disabilities and I also held a day care license for almost 17 years – doing daycare in both Buffalo and Plymouth. Some of my old Buffalo day care families attend Zion. It has been fun to see some of those kids’ names in Myron’s youth group. I have always loved the town of Buffalo. I enjoy my commute to Zion – back roads all the way with no traffic.
The one thing I want to make sure people realize when they come to Zion is … That you have a great church. I attend church in Rogers, but I can see the heart of Jesus at work in your church. You have such a wonderful facility to use for the glory of God and so many dedicated members and a great group of staff. You are very blessed as a church.
