Weber-Wanda-2012

Council Member Wanda Weber

posted on August 16, 2012

Wanda’s council term is for the years 2011 to 2013. Wanda previously served on the council from 2000-2002.

Please tell us about your family:

I am married to Gordon and have three children, Cameron (18) who just graduated and will be attending MSU Moorhead this fall, Erik (17) who will be a senior this year, and Tori (15) who will be a sophomore.

Where do you work?

I own Weber Law Firm, a solo law practice focusing mainly in the areas of real estate, estate planning, and business law. I am also a real estate broker and Realtor. I office together with Gordon’s financial advising practice here in Buffalo – so we are together pretty much 24/7 and still happily married. :)

What are some of the ways that you have been involved with Zion’s ministries?

I’ve mainly been involved with the children and youth programs at Zion beginning with teaching Sunday School and VBS, serving as a Sunday School superintendent and on the Christian Education Committee. As our kids got older, I was a Confirmation small group leader for Cameron’s and Tori’s Confirmation groups, a chaperone for a middle school mission trip, and now serve on the Youth Committee. In the past I have also served on the Council, Personnel Committee, co-chaired the A Promising Tomorrow Campaign, and participated in women’s Bible study groups.

Why do you serve on the Church Council?

I greatly enjoy the level of involvement in the church that serving on Council allows for and requires. I felt that some of my gifts (detail oriented, analytical, a ‘numbers person’) are gifts that can be useful in my service on Council. Serving on Council is another dimension in which I can give back to Zion.

What are your other interests in the community?

My main priority is our family. I love traveling together, spending time with family and friends at our cabin on Lake Pulaski, and just hanging out with our kids and their friends at home or watching their activities which are mainly dirt biking, volleyball and horse shows presently. I am a board member and treasurer of Seniors Wright at Home, one of Zion’s mission partners, and an adult leader and volunteer with the Rockin’ Riders 4-H club. I’m also a member and past treasurer of the Buffalo Stars n Stirrups Saddle Club. Our family all earned our Black Belts at Dojo Karate a number of years ago, and Gordon and I are currently working towards our 3rd degree Black Belts.
