Mike Newman

Mike Newman was elected to the Zion council in December, and is serving a three-year term.

Please tell us about your family:

I am married to Julie, who works as an accountant. We have two children, Hunter (12) and Leah (11).

Where do you work?

I am the owner of A Step Beyond Building and Remodeling, doing residential building and remodeling.

What are some of the ways that you have been involved with Zion’s ministries?

In the past I organized and ran a Saturday morning church basketball get together, and I’ve played on the Zion softball team for five years.

Why do you serve on the Church Council?

I feel I am great at organizing events and projects. I am good at any kind of construction. I have good management and leadership qualities.

What are your other interests in the community?

I am a member of the Annandale gun club. I love all outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing and camping. I enjoy music and movies and hanging out with friends. I enjoy being a student at DoJo Karate with my wife and kids and have been practicing the martial arts for six years. My wife and I enjoy bowling in a couples’ bowling league in Monticello a few times a month.
