Global Missions News

posted on June 24, 2012

Plans are progressing for several Zion members heading to Villages of Hope, Zambia, in late July. Inoculations were received in June and no one cried… Tickets are purchased, and bags will soon be packed with extra items for the children. Funds to support this team’s mission to lead a teacher’s workshop can be given by designating “Global Missions – Zambia.” Thanks to all those who have already supported this team through the Puzzle Project fundraiser.

Thanks in part to donations from Zion members, Matilda Figo from Villages of Hope continues to gain strength following the first surgery on her spine to correct complications from spinal tuberculosis. She is waiting until the doctor says she is ready for the second hip surgery, hopefully very soon. Meanwhile, she received a Student of the Week award, and went on a school field trip to some Kentucky farms where she got to ride a horse. She has also been riding her therapy bike – getting faster every day. Keep Matilda in your prayers for her next surgery, and follow her path online at http://matildaspath.wordpress.com/.

A new mission trip is in the early planning stages, possibly to South Dakota through Youthworks .  It will be for very young children through grandparent ages willing to serve for a week working with housing improvements and a kids’ camp.
