Connecting with Care

Vision

In Acts Chapter 2 we see a model for sharing life together as Christians. The results of the various input received by the Vision Task Force show that developing meaningful relationships is very valued and desired at Zion.

The goal of the Connecting with Care Initiative is to create a culture of community life in which people both learn and have the opportunity to share times of crisis and celebration with friends at Zion. The central feature of this ministry area will be a variety of small group opportunities – from Bible Study Groups to affinity groups. A culture of compassion and care inside the congregation will result in the development of caring and healing ministries for the larger community as well.

Strategic Plans

The Fellowship Committee has plans for several annual events including: Homecoming Sunday, Winter Fest, Small Group Lenten Experience, and the Ice Cream Social at Marysville.

By May 2012: A Small Groups Ministry Leadership Team will be formed to develop a strategy to incorporate small group ministry into the life of Zion. This team will be encouraged to begin starting new small group opportunities right away, and to develop an overall vision for small groups, including a supporting structure and strategy for implementation by May 2013.

By January 2013: The Congregational Care Team (that has recently been formed) will develop an overall strategy for providing pastoral care in the congregation. The team has already begun implementing new ministries such as: homebound ministry, nursing home visits, creating a life season ministry, the prayer wall on The Table, and the All Saints Day service.

September 2013 to September 2014: A task force will meet for one year to evaluate our current caring and healing ministries and to identify current needs in the surrounding community and world. The task force will develop a vision detailing how Zion will engage in healing and caring ministries beyond our walls—in our community and the world, including new goals and ministry recommendations.
