First Communion Festival
Students in 5th grade and above are invited to attend this First Communion Festival at 5pm on Thursday, March 1 or 9am on Saturday, March 3.
At least one parent or grandparent is encouraged to attend with each student. The festival will help prepare children for the reception of their first communion. This time for learning is intended to give participants a greater understanding of the sacrament of Holy Communion and why Christians celebrate it.
The festival will include:
- Instruction in the meaning of Holy Communion
- A Passover / Seder Meal (samples)
- A hands-on activity
- Pizza will be served at the end of the class
Then, on Sunday, March 4, Zion will celebrate with a “First Communion Sunday” where the worship services will be centered around this gift of grace and we will share the first communion with those who have received instruction regarding this sacrament.
Before receiving their first communion, students must be baptized. If your child has not yet been baptized and you would like to schedule a baptism, or if you have any other questions regarding the festival please contact the church office at 763.682.1245.
The cost for the First Communion Festival is $5 per student, which can be paid online or on the day of class.
