Book Club Picks for Winter

posted by Angela on November 28, 2011

The Zion Book Club is taking a break from monthly get-togethers during the winter and will resume Monday meeting times in April.

During this break they suggest these titles:

  • Unbroken by Laura Hillibrand: Nonfiction about, among other things, an Olympic runner and the experiences of a POW camp. (more info)
  • The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom: Fiction about a white girl in the mid 1800s who’s brought up within a family of black slaves. (more info)
  • Faithful Place by Tana French: A mystery set in Ireland, on the top ten list from 2010. Available in paperback. (more info)
  • Reclaiming the Bible for a Non-religious World by John Shelby Spong: Nonfiction, designed to take readers into the contemporary academic debate about the Bible. The author has been interviewed recently by MPR. (more info)
For those interested in online book discussion, a Book Lovers group is forming on Zion’s Table.
